DAY 01. PANGKALAN BUN AIRPORT – KUMAI BOAT HARBOR – CAMP 01 TANJUNG HARAPAN (L.D) Upon arrival at Pangkalan Bun Airport, you will be picked up by our local guide and transferred to Kumai Boat Harbor by car (approx. 20 minutes). From Kumai Harbor, you will continue by private houseboat (Kelotok) to Tanjung Puting National Park (approx. 2 hours). A Kelotok is a traditional wooden river houseboat specially designed for tourists, complete with an upper deck so you can comfortably enjoy the tropical rainforest scenery. During the journey, our team will invite you to explore the peaceful Sekonyer River while observing wildlife such as proboscis monkeys, macaques, and various kinds of birds. You will stop at Camp 01 Tanjung Harapan to see the orangutan feeding time at 15:00 WIB. However, this depends on your flight schedule from Jakarta to Pangkalan Bun.
On the houseboat, you will find tables, chairs, mattresses/cushions, pillows, mosquito nets, a toilet, kitchen, solar panels, and a generator for electricity. Overnight on the houseboat.
DAY 02. CAMP 01 TANJUNG HARAPAN – CAMP 02 PONDOK TANGGUI – CAMP 03 LEAKEY – PONDOK AMBUNG (B.L.D) After breakfast, you will travel upriver by houseboat for approximately 2 hours to Camp Leakey (Research Center). Before arriving at Camp 03 Leakey, you will stop at Camp 02 Pondok Tanggui to see the orangutan feeding time at 09:00 WIB. Afterward, continue the journey to Camp Leakey. After lunch on the houseboat, you will have the opportunity to take a short trekking activity around Camp Leakey or visit the Information Center before seeing the orangutan feeding time at 14:00 WIB. You may also visit the Orangutan Information Centre (ICO), where your local guide will lead you through the forest to the feeding station area. After the feeding session, your guide will take you back to the houseboat and continue exploring the Camp Leakey river area to observe wild orangutans, proboscis monkeys, birds, crocodiles, and the beautiful rainforest scenery. The journey then continues to Pondok Ambung, a tropical rainforest research station. In the evening around 18:30 WIB, you may join a night trekking activity with your local guide to look for wildlife such as tarsiers, tarantulas, birds, pythons, leopard cats, mouse deer, and other nocturnal animals. After the trekking activity, you will return to the houseboat for dinner. You may relax, read books, or play card games together with your guide and crew. Overnight on the houseboat.
DAY 03. CAMP PONDOK AMBUNG – CAMP 02 PONDOK TANGGUI – CAMP PESALAT FNPF – CAMP 01 TANJUNG HARAPAN (B.L.D) After breakfast at 07:00 WIB in Pondok Ambung, our guide will take you back to Camp 02 Pondok Tanggui to see the orangutan feeding time again at 09:00 WIB. You may stay around the feeding area for approximately 1.5 hours. Afterward, continue to Pesalat Reforestation Station to learn about forest conservation activities together with the staff of the Friends of National Park Foundation (FNPF). If you would like to participate in the tree planting donation program at Pesalat Reforestation Station, please discuss it with your guide. Tree planting donations are optional and charged separately by the FNPF staff. Fruit trees planted in the area help provide food for wild orangutans and other wildlife. After lunch on the houseboat, you will visit the local village of Tanjung Harapan located along the riverbank. You may shop for local handicrafts and, if possible, visit the elementary and secondary schools. If you wish, you may also give small gifts such as books or school supplies to the children in Sekonyer Village. The children are always happy to receive gifts from visitors. Afterward, your guide will take you back to the houseboat and continue to Camp 01 Tanjung Harapan to see the orangutan feeding time at 15:00 WIB. After the feeding session, the journey continues along the Sekonyer River to observe wildlife such as proboscis monkeys, macaques, and various birds. At night, if the weather is good, you can enjoy the beautiful fireflies illuminating the nipa palm trees along the riverbank. Overnight on the houseboat.
DAY 04. SEKONYER RIVER – KUMAI BOAT HARBOR – PANGKALAN BUN AIRPORT (B) After breakfast at 07:00 WIB, our guide will take you back to Kumai Boat Harbor (approx. 20–30 minutes). After arriving at the harbor, our guide will prepare the car transfer to Pangkalan Bun Airport. Upon arrival at the airport, our guide will assist you with checking your flight schedule before escorting you to the airport waiting room. After that, our guide will say goodbye. End of Tour
